The function was presided over by daily Nation's Editor and Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) President Arif Nizami and son of late Hameed Nizami, the founder of the Nawa-I-Waqt.

Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui reminded the students getting the awards on the occasion that educational excellence was important for Pakistan and the students were the hope of the nation.

He urged the students to actively seek knowledge and improve their own understanding of the Pakistan Movement and the Pakistan Ideology, and stressed the contribution of Hameed Nizami as a journalist and his work for the Pakistan Movement.

He called for higher allocations for education in the country and said that excellence in education advanced all the developed nations, adding that Pakistan had the potential to acquire a high-level of development and progress but for this education was necessary.

Arif Nizami commended the effort of the Farzandan-e-Pakistan Organisation in establishing awards for the students, who had passed the matriculation and intermediate examinations with excellent numbers and stood first, second and third.

He said Hameed Nizami had worked hard for education in British India and later campaigned for education on universal basis in Pakistan.

He also recalled the total dedication of Hameed Nizami to the Pakistan ideology and has great love for poets such as Allama Iqbal, Maulana Roomi and Bulleh Shah.

He said Hameed Nizami had faced all hardships but said the truth in the Nawa-I-Waqt with courage without giving up its noble policies.

The speakers at the ceremony included Sajjad Mir, Professor Sehar Ansari, Mian Abdul Majid, Professor Naushaba Siddiqui, Syed Azfar Rizvi and Farzandan-e-Pakistan Organisation Chairman Raana Ashfaq Rasool.
